The Moon Gate is constructed of rough stone and brick masonry walls that frame the view down the Theater Steps and across the Ceremonial Lawn. The gate design is consistent with the repeating motif of circles throughout the Gardens. The intricate circular steps flow from the Lawn, through the gate, and up to the Wedding Walk. The Moon Gate and Theater Steps make a stunning backdrop for weddings, anniversary parties, and celebration of life services and the Ceremonial Lawn provides ample space to gather.

The Moon Gate and Theater Steps are available for rent alone for small gatherings or as a package with the Ceremonial Lawn and the Nature Education Pavilion for large groups and events. The Ceremonial Lawn measures 112 feet by 160 feet and creates a viewing corridor from the Nature Education Pavilion to the Naturalist Terrace. A dining setup with tables for eight can accommodate up to 500 whereas a theater set up (chairs only) can accommodate up to 625 guests.  To ensure no damage is done to the irrigation system, tents of any size may be erected on the Lawn only in consultation with Central Gardens.
