There’s fun for people of all ages at Central Gardens! Children will love to see the goldfish and turtles at the Victorian Pond and Waterfall, as well as the butterflies at the Butterfly Garden. And of course, there’s much to explore in the Bee Happy Discovery Garden all season long. Children will delight in watching our newest Discovery Garden friends-chickens!!!
Special free programming occurs every Friday from 9 AM to 11 AM, beginning in June and extending through August. Young “Garden Explorers” are able to explore various aspects of nature through projects, guest speakers, green-thumb activities, art and other experiences.
Teens can dig in deeper and participate in Team Harvest-Unite-Grow-Share (HUGS), where they can help tend the garden, hear from local food producers as well as learn about food insecurity and making a difference in their own communities. See the calendar for specific details.
Story walks, scavenger hunts, cornhole fun; there’s so much to do, whether you’re a family of one or many. The Fiesta in the Gardens on August 15 from 3 pm-7 pm has lots of activities for children and adults, and a very special 90-minute musical performance kids of all ages will enjoy. And remember our free Sunday evening concert series featuring regional talent, beginning July 25. Grab your favorite beverages, a picnic lunch, and a lawn chair or blanket, and discover the beauty of the Gardens.
This space is always ready for kids to explore! Check out the Bee Happy Discovery station for educational materials, a mason bee house, garden bingo cards, and magnifying glasses.
